About Parent Company
Health Food Symmetry™ launched in March 2020 with the aim of creating a new dietary fiber for the food industry using sugarcane—not for its sugar, but for the health benefits found in the whole plant. Through a chemical-free process, the company produces a functional prebiotic fiber that preserves the phytonutrients and bio-active compounds naturally present in sugarcane.
FAQs
What are horse supplements and prebiotics?
Supplements are added to a horse’s feed when additional nutrients are needed to boost their health. They can come in many forms, but PhyteQuine comes in dry pellets. They are not medication, but rather they foster good health in a horse.
A prebiotic is a type of fibre that cannot be digested in the stomach or small intestine, feeding the microbiome in a horse’s hindgut and supporting fibre digestion, nutrient absorption, and overall horse gut health.
What makes PhyteQuine different from other supplements?
Our horse prebiotic supplements are unique from any other on the market. Using 95% virgin sugarcane prebiotic fibres, our Australian-made horse gut supplements are made from insoluble, fermentable, mega-grass prebiotic fibre that optimises the health of the entire digestive tract and strengthens bones. This is different to other prebiotic supplements where fermentation begins in the foregut and stomach which could be detrimental to horses.
Does my horse need prebiotics?
Not every horse needs probiotics to supplement their health, just like not every human needs multivitamins! If your horse has a healthy, balanced diet, they may not need supplements for general health.. But they can act as a way to enhance your horse’s regular diet or enhance their overall health.
Gut imbalances are a key reason behind various conditions and diseases in horses, including:
-
Poor hoof, coat, and skin quality
-
Bloating, diarrhoea, and constipation
-
Unexplained weight loss
-
Hypersensitivity to allergens
-
Equine grass sickness
-
Equine metabolic syndrome
-
Colitis
-
Laminitis
These microbiome imbalances are caused by a variety of reasons. Age, diet, antibiotics, pathogens, and stress are some key factors. As horses get older (19+ years), they can lose microbiome diversity in the hindgut. Performance horses are also quite susceptible to hindgut issues due to the stressors of performing and travel. These are both issues that prebiotics would help mitigate.
How do prebiotics help horses?
The hindgut is home to trillions of micro-organisms that support the digestion of dietary fibre and ensure your horse has ample amounts of energy. A healthy hindgut is essential for the overall health and well-being of your horse, and science has proven supplements help your horse in 6 key ways:
-
Enhanced tolerance to high-grain diets
-
Enhanced digestion in the hindgut
-
Enhanced insulin sensitivity
-
Enhanced digestion in senior horses
-
Ease diarrhoea in foals
-
Tolerance to against sand colic
Will PhyteQuine affect any other medication my horse is on?
Not at all. Our supplements are entirely made from natural sugarcane fibre with no added preservatives or chemical stimulants. It is also non-gelling, making it safe to use with a variety of medications.
Is PhyteQuine easy to use?
Yes! You can mix these pellet supplements with any food your horse is currently eating, wet or dry. We recommend a standard dosage of 40g per day (20g twice daily) for best results. This is recommended for horses who:
-
Are in full training and competition.
-
Are stabled or who have reduced access to pasture.
-
Are foals being weaned or mares who are pregnant and lactating.
Though these are the recommended doses, if you go a little bit over do not worry. Our studies show that up to 300g daily has no ill effects.
How long will it take before I see the results?
When it comes to supplements, results always vary. It is normal for supplements to take several months to a year before they start showing results. While that does seem like a long time, the supplement is working to repair and rebuild to enhance your horse’s well-being.
